WHAT WE DID

Big Sky Studios was preparing to open one of Canada's largest purpose built film and television production facilities. With construction well underway and opening day approaching, the team was focused on building the business, hiring staff, and preparing operations.

Marketing was important, but with a small team already working at capacity, there wasn't time to develop a go to market strategy, build a new website, or create the marketing needed to introduce the studio to the industry.

Hop Skip Marketing partnered with Big Sky Studios to develop a strategic marketing plan and execute the initiatives needed to build awareness, establish credibility, and support future bookings before the doors officially opened.

BUILDING A MARKETING FOUNDATION BEFORE OPENING DAY

Big Sky Studios had an impressive new facility and a clear vision for the future, but launching a new business requires more than opening the doors.

The team needed a professional marketing presence that would build credibility, help prospective clients discover the studio online, and generate awareness in an increasingly competitive production industry.

Working within a limited timeline and budget, the strategy needed to:

Position Big Sky Studios as a premier production facility
Increase online visibility
Build awareness before opening
Generate qualified inquiries
Create a marketing foundation that could grow with the business

Rather than focusing on individual campaigns, we developed a practical marketing strategy that would support both the launch and the studio's long term growth.

The  challenge

We began by understanding Big Sky Studios' goals, target audience, and competitive landscape before developing a clear go to market strategy that aligned marketing with the business's launch timeline.
What we did
Building the Strategy

Within 2 weeks, we completed competitor research, industry analysis, and a brand messaging workshop with key stakeholders.

This work established the strategic direction for every marketing initiative that followed and ensured the brand communicated a consistent message across every channel.
Together, we developed:

Creating a Strong Digital Presence

With the strategy in place, we developed a modern website supported by search engine optimization, educational content, and Google Ads to help Big Sky Studios appear when production companies were searching for studio space in Canada.

Our work included:

  • Website strategy
  • Website copywriting
  • Search engine optimization
  • Google Ads
  • Educational content
  • Business listings
  • Google Analytics

Together, these initiatives helped improve visibility while laying the groundwork for future lead generation.
To introduce the studio to the industry, we created a content and social media strategy that generated awareness before opening day.

An email sign up program was also introduced, allowing Big Sky Studios to begin building a prospect database while establishing ongoing communication with potential clients.

Every initiative was designed to support the launch while continuing to deliver value long after the facility officially opened.

Supporting the Launch

Big Sky Studios entered the market with a professional marketing presence that reflected the quality of its new facility and supported its business goals from day one.

The project delivered:

  • A complete go to market strategy in just 2 weeks
  • A modern website ready for launch
  • Improved search visibility through search engine optimization
  • An active social media presence
  • Marketing systems to support future lead generation
  • Analytics to measure ongoing performance
  • A successful launch completed on schedule

Most importantly, Big Sky Studios was able to focus on opening one of Canada's largest film and television production studios while marketing continued moving forward behind the scenes.

What was the result?

Jocelyn Mitchell,  Director, Business Development and Marketing, Big Sky Studios

It was a pleasure to work with the Hop Skip Marketing team. Finding people we could trust to get our marketing done, and done right, was exactly what we needed so that we could focus on getting through construction and operations. When launch day came, our site looked great and our LinkedIn profile was active.
